How we work together, in writing.

The terms for consults, private programs and group classes with Heelwork Dog Training, and for using this website.

Sample text for the Heelwork template, written for Heelwork Dog Training, an invented business in the Twin Cities, Minnesota. Have it reviewed by a lawyer before you publish, and check it against your own service agreement, booking, payment and video tools; nothing here is legal advice.

1. Who we are and what this covers

These terms are between you and Heelwork Dog Training LLC (demo company), a dog training and behavior consulting business in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. They cover consults, private programs, group classes and this website.

When you book, you also sign a short service agreement. If anything here conflicts with that agreement, the agreement wins.

2. What a program includes

Each program page lists its sessions, length, cadence and price: for example, a 90-minute consult and four 60-minute sessions for Recall. Written summaries, homework and video review between sessions are included for the length of the program.

Package sessions are valid for 6 months from the consult. Extra sessions are booked and paid separately.

3. No guaranteed results

Dogs are living animals. Their health, history, genetics, home and daily routine, and how often the homework gets done all shape the outcome, and we control none of them alone. We don’t guarantee any result, any timeline or that a behavior will never happen again.

What we commit to: a written plan, criteria for every step, honest notes when a step doesn’t pass, and a referral when your dog needs more than we can offer.

4. Your part

Fill in the dog history form honestly and completely, including every growl, snap or bite you know of, and tell us about changes in health or medication. Do the homework, and send the videos we ask for.

Training advice is not veterinary care. For sudden changes in behavior, pain, or anything medical, see your vet; we may ask for a vet check before we start.

5. Prices and payment

Prices are in US dollars. Programs and classes are paid when you book, through an outside payment service. The consult fee is credited to a program booked within 14 days of the consult.

If you stop a program early, unused private sessions are refunded pro rata. The consult and sessions already held are not refundable.

6. Cancelling and rescheduling

Private sessions: give us 48 hours’ notice and we reschedule at no charge. With less notice, the session counts as used; we waive that once per program. If your dog is sick, or ice, snow or a wind chill below −10°F makes the visit unsafe, we reschedule for free, whoever cancels.

Group classes: full refund up to 7 days before class 1. After that, a credit toward a later class. Missed classes can’t be made up, but you still receive the summary and homework.

7. Safety, bites and responsibility

You stay responsible for your dog at all times, during sessions and classes, including under Minnesota’s dog-bite law, and for any injury or damage your dog causes. Keep your dog on leash unless the trainer asks otherwise.

If your dog has a bite history, we may ask for a vet exam, muzzle training (taught first, never put on in a rush) or a different plan before we start. The trainer may pause or end a session or class at any time if anyone, dog or person, is at risk.

8. Group classes

Classes take up to 4 dogs. Dogs need the vaccines their vet recommends for group settings (puppies: a first vaccine at least 7 days before class 1). A coughing or sick dog stays home until 2 weeks after symptoms end.

No greetings between dogs unless the trainer sets them up. If class isn’t the right place for your dog right now, we’ll suggest private sessions and credit the classes you haven’t used.

9. Videos and published cases

Videos you send and clips we film are used to coach your dog. We publish a case file, Progress Log, photo or video only with your written consent, with first names only, and we take it down within 14 days if you change your mind.

10. This website, liability and law

Program descriptions, prices and class dates on this site can change; the details you confirm when you book are the ones that apply. Don’t misuse the site or copy its content without asking. To the extent Minnesota law allows, our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid for the program or class concerned.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, and disputes go to the state courts in Hennepin County. When we change them, we update the date at the top of the page. Questions: Heelwork Dog Training, Minneapolis / St. Paul, Minnesota · (612) 555-0148 · hello@heelwork.example.
